Saddle Up

With Saddle in hand go and find a Pig and use the Saddle to turn it into a Saddled Pig. Now when you right-click on this specific Pig you will mount him.

Giddy Up

One of the first issues you’re going to come across when mounting a Pig is that you have NO control over where the little Piggy is walking. In order to control your new mount you need a Carrot on a Stick. This is crafted by placing a Fishing Pole and a Carrot in a Crafting Table. Once mounted equip the Carrot on a Stick and the Pig will walk in the direction you’re facing. Over time the Pig will begin gallop.

While your Pig gallops along you’ll notice on your action bar a sub health bar, this is your Carrot on a Stick meter. After a duration of time the Pig will take a bite of the carrot, this meter determines how much of the carrot is left. When this health meter is depleted the Pig will stop galloping and you will lose control.

A Piggy Can!

Surprisingly a Pig can travel around quite easily, he can climb stairs, jump as he’s moving to reach higher levels, walk through 2 block high doorways and even up ladders. Unfortunately there are some down falls to a mounted Pig. If you ride your Pig into the water you end up losing control even with a Carrot on a Stick and you have to wait for the Pig to find his way back to land before you can control him again.

Another draw back to the Pig mount is that you cannot ride through a passage with an open door; even though the door is open the Pig is unable to walk through. Saddled Pigs strangely enough make great mounts and their speed is very useful. I suggest building a fenced in area and keeping a chest with Carrots on a Stick inside along with your Saddled Pigs.
