The Future of Minecraft
In this article I’ll be looking at the shelf life of Minecraft, and if Minecraft will hold out for the long term future. Keep in mind, these are based on other games, some that I’ve played since childhood, some recently and your experience could be much different)
Recently while watching a video, I heard a comment that made me stop and think. The things he said were talking about the shelf life of a game. (not Minecraft) But it got me to thinking, how long can Minecraft really stay as popular as it is now? What goes up must come down, or does it? I’m going to be going over a few of my key features that makes Minecraft great for me. (your reasons for playing Minecraft could be completely different)
Ability to explore
I have the ability to run as long as I like and not run out of world. There aren’t sketchy areas you can’t go into, or places they don’t want you to go. Minecraft encourages you to try things out, and doesn’t care in what order you do!
Multiplayer
I play games for the players. When I first started multiplayer, I loved the fact that I could play games with people all around the world. Games aren’t just games, they are ways we play with other people. While playing a game with my brother, the game could be extremely different then when I play with my niece.
Ability to expand.
I started my Minecraft server years ago. As time goes on, there are more and more ways to expand on your experience in Minecraft. Now you can have a completely custom resource pack with custom sounds and so much more. You can also code your own plugins or mods, or even skripts if you really new to coding.
One of the first games I played online was a fast platformer named Jazz Jack Rabbit 2, a game released in 1998, and for how old that game is, there are still players online playing multiplayer, not many, but there still is, why? The players. The friends you made playing the game while growing up, stick with you, and for that reason, so does the game.
Will Minecraft die out soon? Will it lose it’s flavor? I could see myself still playing Minecraft for years to come, maybe not as much as I do now, But because Minecraft is so expandable, and with all it’s mods and plugins, it adds to the amount of play time that can be had.
Because there is more to explore, you are more likely to stick with the game longer, and much more likely to make a few friends in game. Once you have friends in a game, the chances of you moving away from that game becomes so much smaller.
The main reason I could see Minecraft player numbers decreasing, would be a mistake by Mojang, or owner of Mojang, Microsoft. What huge error could they make, big enough to destroy this huge game? Today I’m hoping that we will never see that day. Here’s to playing Minecraft for many years to come!
Thanks for reading my article!

I now what you think man I will play it for years to come to
I agree in many ways.
One thing I find is with most games something goes wrong (maybe you made a mistake), you lost a lot. It takes me a while to like it again. Continued in my next comment below—
However Minecraft is so big that if my dog dies in my survival world I only get bored of that. I might play multiplayer instead. Then if I eventually get bored, maybe a different server or adventur map
I don’t think Minecraft will die out. It can always update and it is very fun. But I do not want it to become survival craft, with Wolves, lions, and more.
Ya….minecraft might fade away in the future.Maybe everyone will be playing with the oculas rift!
